Khadzhumar Sabanov (Sabanti)
Khadzhumar Sabanov (Sabanti) (04.04.1929/aul Nar (Digorsky gorge) - ☦ 07.12.2016/aul Nar (Digorsky gorge)) - people’s Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.

When the boy was 10 years old, his father died of pleurisy. By the beginning of World War II, Khadzhumar had time to finish only four classes of secondary schools. He entered the collective farm, where he worked the entire war as a carter and a plowman. He was awarded the Order for Valiant Labor. In the postwar years, he worked as a carpenter in the souvenir shop, then as a turner, at the same time engaged in wood carving. He was fond of drawing at school (he draws animals, riders with a pencil), in 1950 he began to use watercolor, and in 1953 - oil. But the author considered 1970 as the beginning of serious painting classes.

His first works in oil became a real event of the republican exhibition of amateur art in 1973. In subsequent years, he participated in republican, all-national, foreign exhibitions. Continuing his studies in painting, Khadzhumar Tazeevich revealed his musical talents, since 2002 he was the soloist of the men’s choir of the State Republican Philharmonic, performing national songs. In 1993, H. Sabanov received the title of “Honored Artist of the North Ossetian ASSR”. In 1995 - «People’s Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania».
