Uruev Ivan G. was from a poor family. When he was 10 years old he lost his father. After graduating from only 4 classes of school, he was forced to go to work. At the age of 12 he became a shepherd to help the family. He never traveled outside the city of Yuryevets and Yuryevets district. He worked not only as a shepherd, but also as a craftsman, chauffeur and rafter. She had no special art education, but drew since his childhood. He wrote a book about Yuryevets, complementing it with his own illustrations.
