Edmond Petrosyan was born in a large family. Father is an architect by education, mother was without any education. He studied at the extended school in the city of Stepanakert, then graduated from the Krasnoyarsk Institute of Public Utilities. He worked at the building materials plant of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region, taught at the Stepanakert sports school. During the military conflict he guarded the homes of those who fought, and, although he did not take part in the conflict, this topic influenced his painting. He began to paint in the 80s, at a mature age, small-sized paintings on cardboard. In addition to painting, was engaged in sculpture and art objects creation.
